Perth Home Builder Builton goes bust

Another WA home building company appears to be on the brink of collapse. Burswood based builder Builton Group, trading under the brands Aspiron Holmes and Platinum Homes is likely to join the growing number of Perth builders that have gone into administration in the last 12 months.

Up to 80 homebuyers affected

It’s understood that the Burswood-based group has approximately 50 homes under construction and around 20 to 30 at the pre-start stage. Aspiron Homes and Platinum Homes building projects have been in production throughout the Perth metropolitan area in suburbs such as Clarkson, Bulwer, Success, Tapping, Burswood, Spearwood and Maylands.

Run by managing director Troy Felt since 2004, news of the company’s imminent collapse will affect many. According to WAToday News, New Home Building Brokers managing director Tristan Kirkham said he’s been fielding calls from anxious contractors and staff members over the last few days, while the company’s 90 staff members have been told not to come to work today.

Mr Kirkham says that building contractors could be owed millions of dollars, with many already on payment plans with the group.

WA Building companies bite the dust

News of Builton Group’s likely collapse follows a string of collapses of several prominent Perth building companies in the last six months.

June 2016: Shane Crothers Homes

August 2016: Nominated Homes

August 2016: Pitaro Homes

September 2016: Quattro Homes

November 2016: Collier Homes

QBE insurance will be sending a letter to all clients affected, explaining the process to come.

Mr Kirkham said it would be likely there would be an announcement from the liquidators in the next couple of days.

News of yet another collapse makes many prospective WA new home buyers wonder how they can choose the right builder and protect themselves from such damage and distress
